Grace CORCORAN Obituary

GRACE ANN CORCORAN February 10, 1933 - July 7, 2022 With heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of our eternally beautiful, Grace Ann Corcoran. Ann left us from the home she cherished so dearly on Thursday, July 7th. Surrounded by all the love she so readily engendered, she peacefully passed away with her family at her side after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Her resilient spirit and unwavering optimism personified her strength and determined will and lives on as an inspiration to us all. Ann was the beloved wife of Robert Corcoran for sixty-eight years and the adored matriarch of our entire family. The loving mother of Craig Corcoran, Jill Ciavarella (nee Corcoran), Briare Corcoran, the special Nana of Keegan (Allison) of Atlanta, Georgia, Brianne (Dana Aiello) of Syracuse, NY, Shannon (Craig Curran), Ainsley (Jarod Merigliano), Christin (Kyle Robinson), Sean (Sarah Morelli), Andrew Sands (Michelle), Bryan Sands and the Great-Nana of Madison, Callan, Kallan, Findley, Cole, Carter, Vincent and recently arrived, 'Baby Duke', and dear mother-in-law of Kathryn Corcoran, John Ciavarella, and John Oakley. Ann touched so many people's lives and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Nothing meant more to Ann than her family and home. As well as her unmatched elegance she was the consummate homemaker; an incredibly talented cook, baker, and decorator, renowned for her steady supply of freshly baked muffins or incomparable chicken-pot pies. Ann was the kindest, gentlest, most affectionate, and most supportive person in everyone's lives she touched. If you were to have received a handwritten note or card, you would always sense Ann's warmth and love through her words and recognize her inimitable grace when reading and admiring her exquisite cursive writing style. Her natural beauty was amplified to alluring brilliance when dressed to suit any and every occasion. Elegance and class were the hallmarks of this very special lady. Ann was a voracious reader and from early life classical music was her passion. She and her husband, Bob, were very proud of their contributing support and the role they played with the Toronto Symphony, the Music Garden, and the Royal Conservatory of Music. She derived tremendous joy sailing in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, and Georgian Bay, and the many years spent at her beloved Island House in Key Biscayne, Florida. She was a confident passenger flying with Bob in their trusty "Beagle", as well as an indispensable navigator guiding him through the various antique car rallies they shared together around the world. Her warm and engaging smile, easy laugh and generosity of spirit defined her loving nature. She will be missed beyond words. The family would like to thank Dr. M. Pubben, Dr. K. Towns and the wonderful team at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care. A remembrance memorial reception will take place Sunday, July 24, 2022, from 3-5 p.m. at the Thornhill Golf and Country Club, 7994 Yonge Street, Thornhill, Ontario. We welcome you to share a story or memory of our dear Mom. In lieu of flowers, Ann would love you to send flowers, hugs or messages to the ones you love. When tomorrow starts without me don't think we are far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.

I am sending my sincerest sympathy to Mr. Robert Corcoran and Family in the loss of his most precious Wife. and Mother. I am from many years ago, and while working during my young years at (the Consulate) is where we met. You and Ann would invite some of us girls out after work for some fun. I accepted your invitations several times and we always enjoyed ourselves. When I read your name, a flood of memories came to mind. I just recently lost my only brother and can relate to your terrible grief. If you are not the Bob Corcoran whom I knew years ago, then i apologize, but still send my message of condolences to the other Mr. Corcoran. I know this is a strange message to send, in not really knowing if it is for the man I once knew, but because of all the memories it brought back to me, I felt that I had to send it just in case it is the Bob Corcoran that I knew. God Bless to You All.

I am very sad to hear of Ann's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. I had the pleasure of getting to know her first when I worked at the Royal Conservatory of Music, and also over an exhibition of tea pots (to which she lent some terrific examples) when I worked at the Gardiner Museum. She was a great lady and will be deeply missed. Once again, my sincere condolences to Bob and her family.

My description of Ann is 'the perfect wife and mother'.
Each time I visited their home, Ann was always attractively dressed. She met her guests with a warm welcome accompanied by her unforgettable laughter.
Her family meant the world to her.
