(née Vine, April 18, 1932 – June 30, 2025) Surrounded by her loving family, after a short illness. Born to Tom and Edith Vine in Elma Township, Ontario, she was predeceased by her brother, Fred Vine (Helen); sister, Lenore (Hadden Gillespie); and beloved husband, John. She leaves behind daughters, Janice (Paul Sabourin) and Leslie; son, Tom (Helen); and grandchildren, Paige, Rachel, Brody and Colton. Grace grew up on her parents' farm near Atwood, Ontario, and truly enjoyed being with the animals and working on the land with her father. Her love of animals and the outdoors continued throughout her life. She had countless pets over the years, some of whom simply followed her home, knowing they'd found someone who would shower them with love. She was a keen reader and an avid gardener, always at her happiest digging and planting in the garden. Grace was also a wonderful musician. She played and taught piano and had a beautiful singing voice, performing in school musicals, and singing in choirs throughout her life. She was keen bridge player, a champion curler, and a dedicated Blue Jays armchair coach. Grace worked for several years as a primary school teacher in Etobicoke, and it was through teaching that she met the love of her life, John Everett, who asked her to marry him on their first date. Grace and John enjoyed 68 joy-filled years together. They had many wonderful, lifelong friends, travelled widely, and were pillars of Bloordale United Church. Grace was a kind and caring woman, always up for a chat with loved ones and strangers alike. She was well known for her extensive birthday and Christmas card lists, and for being completely up to date with the goings on in everyone's life. Grace was a wonderful mother to her three children and an adoring grandmother to her four grandchildren. They will all miss her sense of humour, determination, and boundless empathy. Many thanks to the Trillium Mississauga CCU staff who provided her with such compassionate care. Grace was cremated, according to her wishes, and a private service has taken place. Friends may call at Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, on September 19, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., Erindale United Church, 1444 Dundas Crescent, Mississauga. Donations in her memory to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation,
Canadian Cancer Society or to the Ontario Horticultural Association (Garden Ontario) would be appreciated.
