Greg RESSEL Obituary

GREG RESSEL August 1951 - May 2021 Surrounded by his family, Greg died peacefully at our home in Hamilton on Thursday, May 27, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. Lover of life, adventure, and bending the rules (much to the chagrin of his wife and children), the self-proclaimed "King of Fun" is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joy Grahek; children, Madelaine and Zander Ressel; mother, Jolanta; sister, Mariola McGinn; brother, Ogi Ressel; nephews and nieces, Jonathon and Jeff McGinn and Christie, Adam, and Brandon Ressel; his mother-in-law, Norah Grahek; and sister-in-law, Jane Grahek. Predeceased by his father, Alfred. Special thanks to our neighbours and dearest friends who are part of the fibre and well-being of our extended family, John and Pat Miller, their children, Doug and Kate Miller, as well as Parminder Raina and Cynthia Ballion and Agnes Kuskowski and Rick Babington. Thanks also to our dear friends, Theresa Britania, and Tess Lim, the Boyz, and all the staff at the former Ressel School in Burlington that Greg ran for many years with his sister, Mariola and his mother, Jolanta. Greg touched many with his infectious life force. He believed anything was possible if you put your mind to it. In his life, he wore many hats: proprietor of Ressel School and Comptree Computers, sailor extraordinaire, gentleman farmer at Aldersyde Farm in Annan, Board member at the Morgan condo in Toronto and at Woodview Children's Centre, friend, mentor, and confidant to many. Our loving Greg, there are too many happy memories to name here - you will be missed by all. In his long battle with cancer, Greg received wonderful care from many supportive medical professionals especially Dr. Bobby Sheygan, Dr. Sebastian Hotte, Nurses Deirdre, David, Rachel, Erin, Mui and Lily, and PSW, Isatu. Greg was so grateful for the many opportunities his life as an immigrant from Poland to Canada gave him and he believed in giving back every day. Please consider a donation in Greg's memory to the Good Shepherd at www.goodshepherdcentres.ca. We would love to hear your favorite memories of Greg at www.smithsfh.com. We will hold a celebration of Greg's life once we are all vaccinated and COVID-19 restrictions allow. The sun was shining brightly on the day you left us. You will live in our hearts forever. www.smithsfh.com

Dear Greg, May you rest peacefully in our Lord’s loving arms. May the sadness that Joy, Madeleine, Zander and all who loved you are feeling find comfort in the many wonderful and endearing memories they have of you.

Joy, Madeleine and Zander, lean on each other and in those who love you for support. Find comfort in all the many memories your family and friends will share with you.

While Paul and I never had the opportunity of getting to know Greg, one thing we did learn through your Mom and grandmother, was the kind of man Greg was. He lived to love you all and to give you a life filled with laughter and happiness. Draw strength from all your amazing memories knowing he is no longer suffering in pain. And know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. All our love, Paul & Barb
