BAICHWAL, Gururaj Shrinivas MASC, P.Eng.
At home on Sunday, December 26, 2004, in his 72nd year, Gururaj (Guraj) Baichwal left this world in peace and dignity. He came to Canada in 1961 for graduate work at the University of Toronto and became a patriarch of a new generation of Canadians. He was the loving and devoted husband for 46 years to Pramila; dearly cherished father of Ratna, Ravi and Sonja, and Anjali and Paul Druxerman; adored 'Papa' to Olivia, Tejas and Avinash; youngest brother of Dr. Ranganath and Dr. Mrs. Malati Baichwal of Bombay. Pre-deceased by three sisters and two brothers including Dr. Krishna Baichwal. Devoted brother in-law of Elvina Baichwal of Victoria and Raja and Jyotsna Inamdar of Mississauga. Beloved uncle to many, including Anand and Vijay Baichwal, Roopa Ghirnikar, Elizabeth Macdonald, Jennifer, Kristine and Krishna Baichwal, Meena Vangikar, Sumant Inamdar and Geeta Joshi. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 29 at 1 p.m. at St. James Cemetery and Crematorium, 635 Parliament St. (at Bloor). In memory of a man whose pioneering spirit and love of family touched so many, donations may be made to North York General Hospital.
