Dear Hilary, Michelle, Amanda and family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on your profound loss. Gustavo was an inspiring person on so many levels; his joie de vivre and smile were infectious. He exuded warmth, and a genuine curiosity and interest in me every time I saw him. Your unwavering care, love and dedication to him over the past year was admirable. May your beautiful memories bring you some comfort during this sad time.

I was so fortunate to have known Gustavo and news of his passing deeply saddens me as he was truly a special man who has had a tremendous impact on me. His love of life, his energy and curiosity and talents are what the world needs. Gustavo loved every moment and treated every meal, every sip of wine, every night sky, every moment with his family as a gift and a celebration. If we all had an ounce of Gustavo in us the world would be a much better place and most certainly a more vibrant one. My deepest sympathies to the entire family for this heavy loss.

He was a wonderful father and husband. I was lucky enough to have him as a Neighbour for many years on Tanbark Cres.
I will always remember your love for photography, astronomy, and fine wine. I also remember you being in the kitchen and cooking amazing meals with lots of spice.
I am so grateful for our father daughter trip to Whistler skiing with my dad , Michelle and Amanda. You were an incredible cyclist and an amazing skier.
I am also grateful for your beautiful speech you gave as a toast to the bride on my wedding day
You were an amazing man, father and husband.
Lots of Love Andrea (Williams) McDonald

We have known Gustavo and the entire Martinez family since 1957. They treated me like family and I - in turn - felt the same toward them. Gustavo was such a fine man........intelligent, witty, fun, friendly, lover of fine wines and gourmet foods and.......most important.....a wonderful husband, father and grandfather
He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.

I have so many memories of Gustavo, I have difficulty remembering them all. One of my favourites was when four of us went skiing in Quebec. Every morning on the chair lift, Gustavo would be very excited and tell us try we had to try their crabs at the cabin below. Every morning his request would be repeated. So finally, the last morning we all said we had to try Gustavo's pleas. When we got to the cabin we discovered we were missing the best crepes we ever tasted.
Gary.
