Guy's fondest memories were of his youthful summers in Cape Breton, his time with lifelong friends at Oxford and his days creating a garden at his home in Marlborough Woods on the Arm where he and Judy lived for 55 years. He was a bright, honourable and fine man, much loved and missed by his wife Judy, daughter Jocelyn, daughter-in-law Marilla, grandchildren Mollie, Lewis and Edie, brother Dick and wife Kirsten, sister-in-law Joanne Hunter and seven remarkable nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son Colin, sister and brother-in-law Patsy and John Dick, and brother-in-law John Hunter. I am saddened to hear the news of Dr MacLean's passing. I played high school football with his son, Colin, and took two history courses from him while at Mt A. These courses were referred to as "Guy's story hour". He was an excellent teacher and I didn't miss one lecture. He will be sorely missed.

I am sad to read this as I last saw him 6 years ago, I knew his son, and I was a student of his at Mount A in the 80's. He was a very caring person, he wanted to make the word a better place, and he did.

This great Maritimer and Canadian had a profound effect on so many of his students, his lectures often standing room only at Mount Allison University.

A young Guy MacLean was at the finish line at Oxford when Roger Bannister broke the four minute mile. His was a rich life of teaching, public service, and very well lived.
