Three weeks after happily celebrating her 96th birthday with her family, Gwen Brison (nee Doble) slipped away to join her beloved husband, Jack Brison (1922-2008). They are remembered with love and gratitude by their family: Rob (Sue Moffatt), Dana (David Johnston) and John (Melanie); grandchildren, Mary and Grace Brison, Alex and Nicholas (Laura Jabalee) Johnston, Mike Brison and Meg Brison (Scott Symes); and great-grandchildren, Carl and Evan Symes. Gwen delighted in every generation, touching all with her comforting smile and infectious laugh! Gwen was raised in a practical farm family in Uxbridge. She and Jack met at a United Church Young Peoples' group in Windsor. They were smitten with each other and married within six months. After beginning their family in Windsor, they moved to Etobicoke in 1961. While Jack developed a civil engineering firm, Gwen devoted herself to raising their three children. Gwen was smart, spunky, adventurous and determined. She became an excellent bridge player, curler, and a bold down-hill skier. She never met a dog she didn't like. She and Jack were active members of Kiwanis and their local Humber Valley United Church. Together, they built a cottage in Parry Sound where they hosted many memorable times with friends and family. After Jack died, Gwen moved to Walden Circle Retirement Community in Mississauga, where she enjoyed nine caring years with many forays to family events. During her life, Gwen's family and friends were blessed by the gifts of her hands and her heart, as we are now by our memories of her. "Going home, going home, I am going home." (W. A. Fisher) Gwen's Celebration of Life will be held at Turner & Porter "Peel Chapel," 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 2 p.m. with a visitation preceding at 1:15 p.m. The service will be livestreamed. Donations made in Gwen's memory to the Credit Valley Hospital Emergency Department, in recognition of her care, would be gratefully received. Online condolences may be made at:
