GWENDLYN WULFF Obituary
January 7, 1927 - January 27, 2025 Gwen Morris was a plucky gal who grew up in war-time Montreal with her loving sister, Norma; resourceful mother, Lila; and creative dad, Ted. At age 18, she met and married Larry Wulff, son of Thomas and Essie from Nairn Centre. He was a dashing Air Force radar technician just back from the airfields of England. Together they embarked upon a happy post-war life in Montreal, Mississauga, and finally Toronto for more than 72 years. They developed a close-knit group of friends, many in Unitarian circles, and created a loving home for their growing family - camping, cottaging, canoeing, sailing every summer, amateur drama in the winters. After several interesting jobs when the kids left home, Gwen really found her calling as a Lay Chaplain at First Unitarian Church of Toronto for many years, but she had to fit this into a busy schedule when Larry retired. Throughout their lives they sailed Georgian Bay in the summers, took road trips in the winters, travelled to Europe and beyond, and enjoyed their extended families all over the continent. Gwen was an accomplished sewist and knitter, pianist and singer and she greatly loved, and was loved by her many grandchildren and great-grands. How she enjoyed a good brisk walk. Most of us could not keep up with her! Predeceased by Larry in 2019, Gwen had some challenges in her later years, but she managed to sail through them all, with the excellent help of caring staff at Christie Gardens. It was a very special time in 2021 when Wendy, Ken, Dave and Derek met their older half-brother, Bill Hulme, who now shares some lovely memories of her last years. We are so grateful for the kindness and care that allowed her to die with dignity and peace, surrounded by all her children shortly after her 98th birthday. A celebration of her life will be held at Christie Gardens auditorium on June 14th at 2 p.m.
