HAN SPOEL Obituary
Han Spoel (October 27, 1930 - September 19, 2025) Survived by his beloved partner, Melody; and his daughters, Cathy (Michael MacMillan) and Philippa (Greg Dalton). Predeceased by his wife, Mary; and daughter, Tessa (Michael Enns). Loving grandfather of Cyrus (Natasha Hykawy) and Darius Enns; Claire (Matthew Rebbitt), Alison, and Sarah MacMillan (Jean-Loup Doudard); Aidan and Bridget Spoel. Great-grandfather of Alex and Charlie Rebbitt. Born in Rotterdam, Han grew up in South Africa, studied at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar earning a doctorate in chemistry, then moved to Canada where he enjoyed a long career in the aluminum industry. Han loved travel, swimming, good wine, and lively conversation. He'll be deeply missed. At his request, no funeral or memorial service. Memorial donations may be made to Médecins sans frontières.
