Hans MAHLSTEDT Obituary
MAHLSTEDT, Hans Christian, L.L.B., J.D.
Passed away at his residence in Baden on Saturday, March 22, 2003. He was born 67 years ago in Hamburg, Germany and was the son of the late Adolf and Ellen (Mueller) Mahlstedt. Hans spent much of his childhood in Bremen where he was raised, after the untimely death of his parents, by his beloved Tante Emmi (Emmi Plump) who predeceased him in 1980. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 and attended the University of Toronto Law School. Hans practiced law in the Kitchener-Waterloo area for over 30 years. He enjoyed reading, in particular about history and politics, being outdoors and spending time with his family. Beloved husband of Dr. Therese-Elisabeth Mahlstedt, his wife of over 28 years and the much loved and adored father of Christian, Margareta, Magdalena, Martin and Martha. Dear brother of Juergen and Ina Mahlstedt and Mareike Doege all of Germany. Also missed by his mother-in- law Maria Schmitz-Harth, brother-in-law Dr. Hermann-Josef Schmitz and Magdalena Schneider, sister-in-law Dr. Angela Schmitz-Amon and Dr. David Amon all of Germany. He will also be lovingly remembered by his dear cousin Evelyn von Knobelsdorff of Germany and a number of nieces and nephews, also all of Germany. Hans was predeceased by his father-in-law Dr. Hermann Schmitz. Hans' family will receive friends at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Thursday, march 27, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Roman Catholic Church, New Hamburg with Father Pablito Labado officiating. A private family interment to follow at Wilmot Centre Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Regional Cardiac Care Centre at St. Mary's General Hospital.
