August 19, 1945 - July 9, 2025 Harold Bond Keevil died peacefully in his home in Bracebridge, Ontario, on July 9, 2025. Born on August 19, 1945, in Toronto, Ontario, to Norman Bell Keevil and Verna Ruth Bond, Harold was a sweet and warm-hearted man with a quirky sense of humour, who often joked about opening a store called "Harold's Fine Art and Live Bait." His paintings will always inspire a delighted giggle. He loved nature, fishing, photography, canoeing, camping, hiking, and playing Roger Miller on his guitar. A prospector by nature, he was a valued director of Teck Corporation from 1992 to 2003, during which time it built the important Quebrada copper mine in Chile, Antamina, in Peru, and the Elkview coal mine in British Columbia. To honour this legacy, the Keevil Family has recently established The Brian and Harold Keevil Endowment, a CIM grants program to fund indigenous high school and post-secondary students wishing to pursue a career in the mining, mineral extraction and processing industries. Above anything, Harold was devoted to his family. He is loved and sorely missed by his partner, Gail; his children, Bond, Sarah (Greg), Adam, and Melissa (Brian); his grandchildren, Tegan and Rowan; as well as Gail's children, Heather (Scott) and Jennifer (Justin); and her granddaughters, Brenna and Leah. A member of a large family of ten siblings, Harold is survived by Norman (Joan), June (predeceased by Larry), Susan (Brian), Jay (predeceased by Norma), Brad, and Stephanie (John); and predeceased by Brian (survived by Rosemary), Leslea, and David. He will also be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews, as well as the friends he made throughout his life. Harold's family will reunite him with his beloved Temagami on what would have been his 80th birthday. Donations in his memory can be made to the
Canadian Cancer Society or the Temagami Community Foundation. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Cottage Country Cremation Inc., 55 Ann Street, Bracebridge, ON.
