We have just learned of Harry's passing and are deeply saddened. Connor and Matthew we are so sorry that you are experiencing the loss of your second parent. Harry was always gracious, kind and generous. He would sit patiently as Bridget (my dearest friend) and I would show him all our treasures after a day of shopping, feigning interest, I'm sure. Our condolences to Bob and his family during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

All thoughts are with Harry's family and friends for this very sad loss. I have the fondest memories of Harry, mainly from our high school days. We shared many submarine sandwiches at lunch. I do recall Harry once saying that he was thinking about becoming a doctor one day. Well done, Harry. You accomplished this and lots of other important things in your life. I will never forget you.

Harry was a real "bright light" in our operating rooms for so many years.
He was always there to help the nurses with so many complex details of our busy day.
RIP Harry, gone too soon.

Harry was the first visitor at the hospital when I was born, and has been an important presence in my life ever since-here we are a few years ago.
I suspect that as a teenager, I was perhaps not always receptive to his unsolicited (yet sage) ski advice. But, it's stuck with me as an adult, and I hear his kind and patient voice in my head every run (usually when I find myself too far in the backseat).
I'm so grateful for my time with Harry and the Vorps family. Connor, Matt, Daphne and Bob, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Harry, I hope the conditions are perfect wherever you are.

I first met Harry when he was an intern at Scarborough General Hospital. I then worked with him in his various roles in the operating and emergency rooms. He was always energetic, empathetic and innovative. His smile was contagious.
I remember well chasing him down ski hills and around hockey rinks, never able to catch him.
His shoes will never be filled.
May he rest in peace, listening to fine jazz and sipping fine wine.

I adored Harry. He was my regular assistant in the OR for over 10 years. Harry was a more than competent assistant and a kind and caring friend. He was always upbeat and we had so many laughs together about just about everything. He also told me to dust off my snow skis (or in my situation, buy new ones) and get my boys onto skis and out on the slopes (and thus out of trouble) as early as possible - which I did! I will always be grateful for that advice and all the other advice he gave me about raising two boys (something we had in common). I was so sad (for me) when he retired, but very happy for him. I am very sad that he has passed and know he will be missed terribly by his wife and sons. RIP Harry. PS we still use your tricks to fix the brakes of the old stretchers at the General! Nadine Norman

I met Harry in 2007 as a new staff member at the Scarborough General.
He welcomed me with genuine kindness and encouragement. He offered guidance and support as he helped integrate my new role, despite some political uncertainty. I will always be grateful for that early experience of generosity and non-judgmental support.
Harry was deeply valued in the OR for his expertise, positive attitude, and cheerful demeanour-something clearly reflected at his retirement celebration. I am glad he was able to retire early after a difficult period, and spend time doing the many things he loved.
Of all his early advice, his timeless, ergonomically wise reminder-"save your back"-continues to resonate with me daily.
Rest in peace, Harry.

So many fond memories of Harry, Connor and Matthew filled with laughter and joy of skiing and family . Every year I put the millennial 2000 ornament on the Christmas tree I remember toasting to the new millennium and joking, whether the power was going to go off at midnight. Cheers Harry

Many years of conversation during my work for 31years as a surgeon at Scarborough General. He had a very friendly demeanour and was very supportive during long tedious operations. I am glad he and his wife enjoyed travel, as I have done in my retirement

Harry was a valued friend and colleague during the thirty-five years that I was working at the Scarborough General Hospital. He helped me to get through many difficult operations. At lighter moments, he talked about his love for his family, sports, music and cars.
He will sorely be missed !

Harry was beloved friend and colleague. Over the 40 years we knew each other, we spent thousands of hours in surgery together where he became a skilled and valuable assistant. His cheerful demeanor, and quirky sense of humour were priceless. We spent many hours together playing golf. His enthusiasm and urge to hit the ball as far as he could was unsurpassable, his accuracy, sometimes not so much. We always had fun.
Harry faced the challenges of his illness to the best of his ability
with characteristic determination and cheerfulness.
Harry will be sorely missed by me, Sue, Sarah, and Davey.
