SOBEL, Harvey-
Age 80, of Palm Beach, Florida and Hamilton, Ontario, Canada died at home with his spouse by his side on Saturday, June 14th 2014.
Born on May 2nd 1934, in Toronto Canada, Harvey Sobel was a world renowned interior designer or as he would like to say, 'Social worker for the rich and very rich.' Throughout his career he received numerous awards in Canada and the U.S. in recognition of his talent.
Mr. Sobel was an incredibly kind and generous individual donating to numerous charities. His favorites were Ronald McDonald House, Make a Wish Foundation for Children, and St. Jude's Hospital for Children. He had homes in Canada, Palm Beach, and France. Paris was his second favorite city in the world, Palm Beach being his first. A seasoned traveler, he traversed the seven continents six times during his time on earth.
As per his wishes, he was cremated and his ashes will be scattered by his spouse in Canada, Palm Beach, and Versailles, where his name appears as a benefactor in the restoration of 'Trois Fontaines Bosquet.'
He is survived by his spouse, Michael Sahakian, his nephews and nieces; Lorne and Shelly Sobel, Barry and Barb Sobel, Howard Sobel and Maya Gold, and Marci Sobel, and his numerous great-nephews and nieces and great-great-nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held in his honor in Hamilton's Art Gallery in September and in Palm Beach at a later date. Funeral arrangements were made by the Quattlebaum funeral home.
