Helen O'Brien Obituary

(née Parmelee, formerly Worthington) (June 23, 1934 – October 21, 2025, Maple, Ontario) Helen Lillian O'Brien passed away peacefully, on October 21, 2025, age 91. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph W. O'Brien, and former wife of the late Peter Vickers Worthington. Helen was born and raised in Ottawa. She enjoyed her long career as a journalist, writing for the Toronto Telegram, and working as both a writer and editor for the Toronto Star. She had her own column in the Star for many years. Helen is survived by her loving son, Casey Worthington, his wife, Julia; Casey's daughters, Katie and Victoria; by her sister, Janet Hutchinson, and husband, Rick; Janet's daughter and her family; Kathy Murphy, her deceased brother Charles Parmelee's spouse; and by Joe's children and grandchildren. Helen's warmth, sense of humour, grace and strength will be deeply missed. A private family remembrance will be held later this fall.
