PHELAN, Helen Doris (Gardiner)
Adored wife and loving life partner of Paul J., passed away on June 28, 1999, at home, with her family. Devoted mother to Helen Gail Regan and husband Tim, the late Sharon Phelan, Paul D. Phelan and wife Rundi, Rosemary Phelan Robbins and husband Michael. Predeceased by parents Percy R. and Gertrude Gardiner and brother George R. Gardiner. Blams was a beloved grandmother to Sean, Tim, Ellen (Devine), Honor Regan, Holiday Phelan-Johnson, Jennen, Jamie, Hayley, Paul W. Phelan, Raewyn, Michaela, Brodie Robbins and to great-grandchildren Jackson Regan, Phelan and Jonah Regan and Jaden Devine. Helen was awarded the Order of Canada for her commitment to many business and community organizations including: Scott's Hospitality, Confederation Life, Women's College Hospital, Lyndhurst Hospital, University College, Bishop Strachan School, The Toronto Community Foundation, Toronto Arts Production (currently called Canadian Stage Company) and the Junior League of Toronto. She also received an honorary Doctor of Laws, U. of T. Helen was a mentor and beacon to family, friends and colleagues in the community-her legacy will continue to brightly shine into the future. Friends will be received at the RosarMorrison Funeral Home, 467 Sherbourne Street (south of Wellesley) on Wednesday, June 30, 1999 from 3-7 p.m. and Thursday, July 1 from 2-6 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Grace Church On-the-Hill, 300 Lonsdale, on Friday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Helen Gardiner Phelan Playhouse, c/o University College, University of Toronto, King's College Circle, Toronto, Ontario or to Women's College Hospital. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
