Helen Katzman Sherman

February 5, 1920 to

January 18, 2014
Singing was her soul and she didn't want the music to stop. Over the years Helen's lovely soprano enriched the Heritage Singers, Lachan and Holy Blossom choirs. She was a devoted audience member of the COC, the TS and Tafelmusik. Born in Trenton, Ontario, daughter of Sadie and Morris Katzman, sister of the late Manuel Katzman and the late Ruthe Kaliff. Wife of the late Philip Sherman (deceased 1978). Mother of Geraldine Sherman (Robert Fulford), grandmother of Rachel Fulford and Sarah Fulford (Stephen Marche). Great-grandmother of Elijah and Aviva Marche. Step-grandmother of James Fulford and Margaret Fulford (Jeffrey Rosenthal). Mother of Michael Sherman (Gabrielle), grandmother of Matthew, Rebecca and Jeremy Sherman. Until her death Gwyneth Sestito gave her voice lessons. Dr. Alan Fegelman kept her well. Joel Winch, Sal Generoso and Sandra Pierce helped manage her affairs. Cora Delacruz, Charisma Borja and the staff at the Russell Hill Retirement Home kept her safe and engaged. At Holy Blossom Temple, 1950 Bathurst Street (south ofEglinton) on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. Interment Old Adath Israel Synagogue section at Pardes Shalom Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Royal Conservatory of Music, or to any group, amateur or professional, that makes a wondrous noise.
