Helen Smiley 1914 - 2014
With sorrow the family of Helen Smiley of Toronto (formerly of Halifax) announces her death after a brief illness. Born Helen Gilroy, she was predeceased by her parents John and Carrie and by nine of her 10 siblings as well as by her husband Albert Smiley. Left with cherished memories of her loving, generous and positive nature, as well as her quiet strength are her brother Carl (Iona), sister-in-law Nellie (Cleve,d.), daughters Ann Smiley and Catherine Yarrow, grandson Simon Yarrow, Catherine's husband Murray Russell and his daughter Kate McGillivray and son-in law Tom McGillivray, and Helen's and Albert's nieces and nephews and their families. A celebration of Helen's life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 12 noon at Bayview United Church, 2609 Bayview Avenue, Toronto with reception to follow. (Enter at 2601 Bayview Ave for parking behind the church.) In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice. A celebration of Helen's life will also be held in Nova Scotia at a later date with interment to follow.
