HENRY CASSELS Obituary
(September 13, 1925 – December 31, 2025) Martin "Bun" Cassels passed away peacefully, on December 31, 2025. A man of many talents, interests, and passions, Bun lived a long, rich, and deeply fulfilling life. His greatest passion and proudest achievement was his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Eileen, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage; and by his son, Doug. He was an also a devoted father to Heather (Clayton Spanton). He was a cherished grandfather to Kendra Cassels (Samir Hak), Andrew Spanton (Rachel Funston-Clarke), and Jason Spanton (Lilly); and a proud great-grandfather to Stella, Sienna, and Bennett. Florence Mesa, who assisted Eileen and Bun for 16 years, became a treasured part of his family. Bun was also an esteemed uncle, great-uncle, cousin, brother, and a loyal friend to many. Bun embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He sailed the Great Lakes, earned his pilot's licence, and was an avid gardener and fisherman. He loved sharing time and joy at the family cottage, "Tall Trees," and his farm in King Township. He could often be found in his workshop, happily tinkering - fixing and building just about anything. Winter hunt camps with the boys were a cherished annual tradition, as were the many adventures he shared traveling the world with his beloved wife, Eileen. In September, friends and family were delighted to celebrate Bun's 100th birthday - a milestone that reflected a life truly well lived. Just six weeks ago, he was privileged to meet his first great-grandson, a moment of true joy for him and his loved ones. Bun lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by family and friends alike. His legacy of love, generosity, curiosity, and devotion to family will live on through the many lives he touched. A private family service has been held.
