HENRY DONALD LANGDON, Q.C.
Peacefully, and suddenly, H. Donald Langdon Q.C. passed away on March 16, 2007 at Toronto in his 100th year. Born in Brighton Township in 1907 to G.S. Langdon and Margaret Langdon. Beloved husband of the late Margaret MacVichie, he is survived by his loving daughters Judith Crawley of Toronto and Elizabeth Kersey (Bob) of Vernon, B.C., his grandchildren Lisa Crawley Beames ( Paul), Matt Crawley (Debbie), Rob Kersey (Sandy), Mike Kersey (Nan), Carin Bowles (Fraser), great grandchildren, Sydney Price, Mitchell and Cody Beames, La ur en a nd M egh a n C r a w le y, Langdon and Makena Kersey, Braden, Christopher and Tyler Kersey, and Jaed and Caleb Bowles, his sister Eva Hayman, brothers Aubrey, James and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Goldwin and Gerald and his sisters Mabel, Dell and Marjorie. Donald graduated from Osgoode Law School in 1930 and was an active and esteemed member of the Bar until his 92nd year. During the war, he was selected as legal advisor to the Wartime Prices and Trade Board in Ottawa. He practised law first with Briggs, Frost and Birks, then with its successor firm Birks, Langdon and Elliott; he was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1953. Donald will be remembered as a well respected counsellor who devoted much of his time to various religious and charitable organizations. He was a member of St. James Bond United Church, a past governor of the YMCA, and a life member of the Canadian Bible Society. As the nominal patriarch of the Langdon family until his dying day, Donald embodied the qualities of integrity, dignity and courage. He always welcomed his large extended family, numerous friends and was frequently sought out for his wisdom, experience and guidance. His loss will be felt deeply by family and all those who ever had contact with him, as he was a true gentleman and humanitarian. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Lydia Bustamante for her devoted care of 'Mr Langdon' for the last few years. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME ­ AW MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Ave, Toronto (south of Eglinton Avenue East) from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 25th. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 26th with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Bible Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer Society of Canada (in memory of Margaret), or the charity of your choice.
