Passed away peacefully May 23, 2012 in his 81st year. Born in Montreal on August 1, 1931, son of Dr. W.J. McNally and Harriet Purcell. A graduate of St. Francis Xavier B.A. (1952) and McGill B. C.L. (1955), Herb was for many years a senior partner, and then managing partner, at Byers/Casgrain, now Fraser Milner Casgrain.
  Herb was dedicated to his family, his law firm and his community. To his wife, children, stepchildren and grandchildren, he gave generously; not only his love and support but also his keen interest in skiing, golf, history and writing. He leaves to mourn his wife Mary Anne, his sister Ann Darling (Dick), children William (Catherine), Julia (George), Michael (Sara), Jessica (Miguel), stepchildren Amy (Chris), Peter (Anna), Sarah (Kevin), Kate (Grant), and 16 grandchildren.
  The funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Patrick's Basilica (460 Rene- Levesque West), followed by a reception at the St. James's Club. Herb's family would like to extend special thanks to his caregivers, and all the staff of St. Margaret's Home, for their compassionate care.
