HERMAN HUGENHOLTZ It is with great sadness we announce that Herman Hugenholtz passed away peacefully, at home on Sunday, June 25, 2023. Herman leaves behind his loving wife, Bev Stevens Hugenholtz, of 56 years. Cherished father of Lindsay Hugenholtz Sherk (Brad Sherk) and Chris Hugenholtz (Kerri Cameron Hugenholtz). Proud grandfather of Karsten, Brianna and Axl. He also leaves behind his sisters, Maria (Bob Cairns), Alida Hugenholtz (Steve Molnar) and Edwina Hugenholtz. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in The Netherlands, Herman practiced as a Neurosurgeon in the Scarborough General Hospital, the Ottawa General Hospital, and the QE2 in Halifax, where he retired in 2006. He enjoyed several years of travel, building canoes and kayaks, and winters in Florida. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Herman's life on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., with words of remembrance at 2:45 p.m. at the Capital Funeral and Cemetery, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Nepean (Ottawa). In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please consider making a donation to Lymphoma Canada or to an animal shelter of your choice. Herman will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
