HOWARD JOBIN Obituary

1937 - 2024 Dr. Howard Philip Jobin, loving husband, devoted father, distinguished psychologist and educator passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, at age 87, at the Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence. His professional journey began teaching with the De La Salle Brothers at St. Gabriel's Parish in Windsor, Ontario, prior to pursuing his doctorate in psychology from the University of Toronto. Throughout his career, Howard served as a teacher, school principal and Chief Psychologist at the Metropolitan Separate School Board in Toronto. In retirement, Howard continued his vocational commitment to community, serving on the board of directors for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto and The Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto. A man of diverse passions, Howard was an avid collector of Canadian political biographies, a keen Blue Jays fan, and a lifelong music enthusiast. He loved jazz, classical and folk genres, with a particular fondness for attending the Toronto Symphony Orchestra with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Harrington (nee Flanagan); sons, Dennis and Paul; daughters-in-law, Christine Hiller and Leah Solis; and was predeceased by his first wife, Eunice Reddin-Jobin. Dubbed "the sweetest man ever," Howard was known for bringing joy and calm to those around him. A funeral service will be held at St. John's Parish (786 Kingston Rd) on Saturday, December 14th, at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery in Prince Edward Island next summer. The family would like to thank his personal caregiver, Andrea Barnswell, and all of the wonderful staff at The Houses of Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the St. Michael's Foundation, designated to the Family Council at the Houses of Providence: stmichaelsfoundation.com/HowardPhilipJobin

My deepest condolences to Howard´s family, caregivers and friends for your loss. I worked with Howard over many years during his exceptional leadership as President of OPA Section on Psychology in Education. Sometimes for meetings @ his home dining room table! Later in my career Howard provided generous support/assist during a challenging time for which I´ll always be grateful. I´ll remember Howard fondly for so many reasons.

I remember with sadness our OPA, SecPE and school psychology leader and friend. Howard was a positive psychologist of diverse interests whose collaborative leadership style was rewarding to his teams and peers. We have many fine memories of experiences shared, and his witty humor and laughter helped overcome inevitable challenges. May he rest in peace. With condolences to the family and his circle of care,
Ester
