Hugh COULSON Obituary

HUGH LEYS COULSON 1940 - 2022 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Hugh Coulson on March 17. Hugh left this world peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home in Campbellford, ON. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 45 years, Anne; his children David, Carey, Peter, Daphne (deceased), Shoshannah, Douglas and Robin; his many grandchildren along with his brothers Jock (deceased), Gordon and his sisters Panny, Vickie and Jill. Hugh was with man of many interests. He started his working life as a stockbroker in Montreal, later moving to Toronto where he became a well-known and much loved figure on Bay Street. He then ventured into the mining industry where he spent four eventful years prospecting in the Thunder Bay / Nipigon area. His semi-retirement years were enjoyed at the farm in Campbellford where he could often be seen riding through the fields on his tractors or hosting his "men only" Sunday NFL parties at the Barn. Hugh also opened a real estate firm and, for a time, served as a member of the local Rotary Club. Over his long and active life, Hugh participated in many sports including skiing, flying, marathons, squash, handball and golf. He was an honorary member of the Cambridge Club of Toronto, Montreal Racquet Club and Nicholson Island Shooting Club. Hugh and Anne have enjoyed 21 winters at the Lost City Golf Club in Atlantis, FL. Hugh had a most unpretentious and affable nature. He was a generous and kind man which earned him many enduring friendships. Your family and friends thank you Hugh for being you; we will all treasure our memories forever. A private family service to celebrate Hugh's life will be held, with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, in the early Summer. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, a donation may be made to Hugh's favorite charity, The Salvation Army. Memories, stories and condolences can be shared online at www.weaverfuneralhomes.com

We now live in Austria and spend our winters in Panama, but can be reached everywhere by WhatsApp. Although you naturally have countless friends nearby, please let us know if there is any way I could help. Alf for the A-Team.

Anne, so sad to hear of Hugh's passing. He was a great friend of mine going back many years (60?).
He was a character who always lived his life to the hilt. I was lucky enough to go along a crazy and wonderful trip
with him in the good days when we both felt we owned the world.
I was in Ottawa yesterday and sister Sue showed me some newly found old photos of her with you and Judy Fisk.
They probably were taken sometime during Beaconsfield High days. Your ears must have been burning yesterday.
Tom asked what your maiden name was and Sue and I both answered at the same time "Tucker".
When you get over the stress of all this it would be great to talk to you and compare memories, so stay in touch.
Maybe we could all meet at Sue and Tom's place in Ottawa some time this summer.
In the meantime, you have my deepest sympathy for your loss.

Hugh will be so missed. His wonderful sense of humour - more often than not, laughing at himself.
