While late in signing the the condolence book for Hugh, I have thought of him often since learning of his passing. Hugh was a big influence in my life and I learned so much from him in business, personal integrity, and loyalty. As said, Hugh´s laugh was infectious, his commitment to the team was unwavering, and his love for Donna and Jacqueline, palpable. May he rest in peace.

I met Hugh Segal three times and I forget the context of the first. The 2nd and 3rd were at airports where he chatted with me as if we were best friends. The same familiarity was also shown to me on two airport occasions when Jean Beliveau and I discussed the previous night's game as if we had always done it. Need I say more about these two fine Canadians

Hugh was an incredible contributor, committed bridge builder and I'll miss that twinkle in his eye. For all his irreplaceability, he gave his time, perspective and wisdom so freely to young leaders that my hope is that his example will inspire a wide array of others to be as generous inspiring a subtle, but profound echo that will carry on.
To Donna and Jacqueline, my sincerest condolences.

Hugh lived an exemplary life crowned by deep empathy for those who struggle for no fault of their own.
His book "
Bootstraps need Boots" says it all.
Canada has lost a truly great contributor to its worldview .Let´s strive to put this into actions.
My late husband Bob and I admired him greatly.

All the best for you in coping with Hugh's passing, Donna. Thank goodness that you are a good organizer, as there is a lot more than usual to be done with a hubby like him, as the world is wanting to pay tribute. Take care of yourself; Frank.
