IAN GREENBERG June 15, 1942 - January 10, 2022 It is with broken hearts that the family of Ian Greenberg announces his peaceful passing, in his eightieth year, on Monday, January 10, 2022, at home in Montreal, surrounded by his loving family. Loving and adored husband and best friend of Linda Lee Winner for fifty-three years. Devoted father and father-in-law of Adam Greenberg and Linda Shames, Ali Greenberg and Andy Kastner, Mandy Greenberg and Jordan Dermer. Cherished and beloved "Papa" of Riley, Kendall, and Colby Greenberg; Alexa, Ashley, and Blake Kastner; Alex, James, and Andrew Dermer. Brother of Claire Fraistat, Sidney Greenberg, Roslyn Aberman, and the late Rita Schmetter, the late Harold Greenberg, the late Evelyn Levy, and the late Harvey Greenberg. Ian co-founded Astral Media with his brothers in Montreal in 1961. In 1996, he assumed the role of CEO and presided over seventeen consecutive years of profitable growth before Astral Media's acquisition by BCE in 2013, where he served on the board of directors. A member of both the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Hall of Fame and the Canadian Business Hall of Fame, in 2007, Mr. Greenberg received the Ted Rogers and Velma Rogers Graham Award for his significant contributions to Canadian broadcasting. Of all the significant and impressive accomplishments in his life, Ian's family was his greatest. His love for his wife, Linda, knew no limits. She was his true love and his guiding light. Ian had a unique and special relationship with each one of his children and grandchildren. He spent countless hours daily calling and texting each and every one of them. He leaves us with a tremendous hole in our hearts but also with a lifetime of memories, love and wisdom to give us the strength to move forward. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. David Mulder for his exceptional care and friendship, and to Dr. Kevin Petrecca for his compassion. Special thanks to Carmel, San, Lee, Van, Evelyn and Ian's many other wonderful caregivers who kept him comfortable. A private graveside service to take place. Shiva strictly private. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Dr. Kevin Petrecca Brain Tumor Research Fund c/o the Montreal Neurological Institute & Hospital, (514) 398-1958, or email:
