I met Ian when I was a kid visiting my Dad at work at JJ Barnicke. It was a cool place to visit and as it was full of larger than life personalities. When Ian and I got the chance to work together as adults, I loved hearing his JJB war stories and the antics that went on there. Jim Murray and John Clare have some great stories too!
Ian was kind enough to invite and include me into the PetroWest family where he did some excellent work. I was lucky to get to know his colleagues Jim Coleman, Lloyd Wiggins, and Rick Quigley as we transformed PetroWest into a very exciting business and recapitalized it. Ian was a great connector and supporter of everyone around him. He left every meeting with new friends and a smile. He spoke kindly of colleagues and friends and fostered the communities that supported him along the way. He appreciated the opportunities that he had in life and spoke fondly of his childhood and family. I sure will miss him. God bless.

Ian orchestrated the attendance of Princess Dianna (and then he escorted her) to the grand opening of the World Exchange Plaza in Ottawa.
A beautiful picture and fabulous memory of a special day ❤

I am deeply saddened with the passing of my dear friend Ian, who’s immensely generous heart eloquently guided me through life‘s challenges. Ian was always supportive with his fun-loving wit! Cheers, to all the memorable good times shared, I will be internally grateful. May you find peace and rest in God’s radiant light.

Ian was well known and loved for his keen wit and humour. He was deeply admired and respected for his encyclopedic mind, his political astuteness and his business acumen.
Ian was one of those people that wherever he went he made friends and he never neglected to keep in touch with them.
He loved entertaining and he was an amazing chef. Ian was generous - and particularly faithful to his beloved alumni, Trent University.
Ian was a dear friend to so many. He was an exceptional human being. He will be deeply missed. May he Rest In Peace.
