After a valiant 28 month struggle against cancer, Ian finally succumbed on March 5, 1998, aged 42. Ian Petroff, loving husband of Marlee (Allen). Devoted father of Alanna, Davida, and Ryan. Faithful son of Henry and Hinda Petroff and beloved son-in-law of Bertha Allen and the late Marvin Allen. Dear brother and brother-in-law to Penny Petroff, David and Shimona Petroff, Neil and Leanne Petroff, Mindy and Martin Gerskup, David and Laurel Sandler, Kevin and Michele Allen and Jordan Allen, and cherished uncle of 15 nephews and nieces. Ian graduated from Ohio State University, receiving his Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture degrees, summa cum laude, and was awarded the American Institute of Architects gold medal. After studying and travelling in Europe and Asia, he returned to Canada and became a partner of Petroff Partnership Architects. Ian was a warm and considerate person and will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Ave. W. (one light west of Dufferin). Shiva to be observed at 441 Worth Blvd., Thornhill. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in Ian's memory.
