WITT, Irene
August 24, 1918 - November 13, 2015

Born in 1918 on the Wirral peninsula in the county of Cheshire in England, Irene (née Appleton) Witt served during the Second World War in the Women's Royal Naval Service (the 'Wrens'). Married to Alexander Verner Witt (Royal Canadian Air Force) at the end of the war, she arrived in Canada in 1946. Mother of Barbara, Jan and John (Anne), she was predeceased by her loving husband in 1975. Grandmother to Alexandra, Zoë, Victoria and Madeleine Witt of Hong Kong. Irene was a long-time resident of Carleton Heights and Rockcliffe Park when not on the shores of Dalhousie Lake in Lanark County. The funeral service will be celebrated in St. John Lutheran Church, (270 Crichton Street in New Edinburgh, Ottawa) Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Capital Memorial Gardens (3700 Prince of Wales Drive 613-692-1211).
