Iyavar CHETTY Obituary
IYAVAR MOONSAMY CHETTY Iyavar passed away on June 2, 2021, in Tongaat, South Africa. He was 82. Survived by children Lorraine, Annushka and Mischa, siblings George, Bala, Dan and Gonum, grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Remembered fondly by his Bertrand family in Canada, his colleagues, friends, and comrades around the world. Iyavar was a graduate of universities in South Africa, England and Canada, a Barrister of the Bar of Ontario and a South Africa Attorney. He was banned by the South African apartheid Government in 1965 for his active participation in the struggle for liberation. In exile he lived in Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, London and Ottawa. During his last two decades in South Africa he became an internationally respected expert in the eradication of child pornography. Iyavar dedicated his life to fighting for justice. Funeral services have taken place in South Africa.
