I was saddened to hear of Charless passing and offer my deepest condolences to Margaret and family.
Charless leadership of the Ontario Hostelry Institute was pivotal to its many contributions to the hospitality industry and in the fields of training and education. That the Institute survived thus far is also primarily due to the respect and admiration with which Charles was held by industry and educators. The Canadian Hospitality Foundation, managed by the Institute, benefitted from his unparalleled outreach into both these worlds and reached new heights in its fundraising and provision of scholarships to hospitality students.
On a personal note, I feel fortunate to have worked at the Institute during Charless tenure as chair of the organization. He was always most considerate and most supportive.

My thoughts are with Margaret and all the family!
Mr. Grieco, the Chefs' House looks so empty especially on Wednesdays when you would be here enjoying your lunch experience with our students. Often you would come with the leaders of our beloved industry. I felt your support, your guidance and mentorship, appreciate your straight to point constructive feedback because I know that you are very proud of The Chefs' House/George Brown College, and you want us to be even better. You will be dearly missed; I thank you forever from bottom of my heart for all the great moments we shared together. Rest in Peace, Mr. Grieco!

It is with a smile that I think of Charles. You succeeded sir. You affected me deeply and positively. You made me feel good about you, knowing you, working with you, working for you. J. Charles Grieco, you are the man, the ad guy', the marketer, the restauranteur, the visionary, the entrepreneur, and the mentor to me; and you did it all while being the father, the grandfather, and the husband. You maintained a busy schedule and set standards for us in terms of being there' in spite of what time had passed and what time threw in your path.
Susan and I send our deepest condolences to the wonderful Margaret and all the Grieco family.

Charles Grieco understood Hospitality better than anyone. He lived it. He cared passionately about the Foodservice and Hospitality Industry and dedicated several decades to helping young people enter and succeed in the industry. Through the Ontario Hostelry Institute and the Canadian Hospitality Foundation, Charles was instrumental in helping to raise millions of dollars in scholarship funds for deserving university and college students across Canada. The Hospitality Industry has lost a giant. I was blessed to have him as a friend. My sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers are with Margaret and the Grieco family. God grant Charles eternal rest and peace.

I am terribly saddened by Charles' passing. Charles was an inspiration to many (present company included) and was able to raise the profile of the hospitality industry to previously unachievable and unattainable heights. His knowledge in the industry was second to none but it was the wit, wink and that incredible ability to be extremely forward and not mince words yet be completely charming and endearing at the same time. He was the ultimate leader and professional who motivated many young leaders, including myself. We bonded over the industry and untoward neighbours and I absolutely cherished my time with him. Moreover, I learned a great deal from what he said, did and by trying to replicate some of his actions Dear Charles you will be missed but your legacy is secure, both through your family and in our industry. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Margaret and the entire family, whom he spoke about with such pride and admiration. Tony Cohen

Charles Grieco has been the standard-bearer of the Ontario Hospitality industry for over 40 years. We were blessed to have had him as our leader and mentor for so many years. Charles was indefatigable in his efforts to inspire young people about the generous, honourable and passionate nature of our vocation. He cared deeply about the restaurant business and his constant enthusiasm made us proud to be part of this noble profession.
Charles was the ultimate professional and like so many others, I was inspired by his example, his energy, his leadership and his caring for all of us. Charles mental energy was remarkable. He pushed us to aim higher and to do better.
We have lost a true hero, but such was Charles stature, that we will continue to feel his influence for many years to come. Charles Grieco was extraordinary.
Thank you, Charles Grieco, for all you did for us. We are so lucky, proud and grateful to have you be one of us.
To Margaret and the family, please accept the enormously heartfelt condolences of literally thousands of us who were inspired by your husband and father. Peter Oliver.

Both Charles and his father, John, were good friends and great restauranteurs serving the people of Toronto exquisitely for many, many years. In fact, I would say La Scala was Toronto's finest fine dining establishment. My first date with my wife was dinner at La Scala and it was an auspicious beginning. A highly talented man possessing also grace, style and charm, he will indeed be missed.

A sad time for Margaret & family and all who had the privilege of knowing Charles. He was a relentless champion of many causes and legendary with his efforts with the OHI where he kept the hospitality industry strong. He recognized past and present efforts and was always building for the future. Thank you for your support of Canadian VQA Wines and in particular for your strong support of Inniskillin when Donald, Karl and I were lucky to have you as one of our first ambassadors during those challenging, beginning years in the 70's.
I shall always picture Charles pounding his symbolic gavel at the Awards Dinner in his great determination to gather everyone's attention to the head table. Charles, you always had our attention in more ways than you will know.
