J. MORRIS Obituary

J. WARREN MORRIS Passed away peacefully on March 18, 2021, at Bridgepoint Healthcare in his 91st year after a brief illness. Deeply devoted husband of Mary Eleanor Morris (née Riddell), loving father of Janet Lanaway (John), Donald Morris (Selina) and Robert Morris (Sharon). He was a beloved Grandpa of Scott (Magdalena), Samantha (Josedomingo), Ian (Sian) and Andrew Lanaway and Evelyn, Jason, Carson and Callie Morris and four great-grandchildren, each of whose lives he touched in a unique and loving way. Warren was born and raised in Toronto, the son of Hubert and Evelyn Morris and was predeceased by his brother, Roger. Warren graduated from Victoria College at the University of Toronto, and then from Osgoode Hall Law School. He enjoyed practicing law in Toronto for over 50 years and dedicated his career to helping people, always asking what he could do for others. As an Elder at Rosedale United Church, Warren chaired the Outreach Committee and volunteered with Out of the Cold. He also served on the Boards of the Centre for Christian Study and the Christian Resource Centre. Through his affiliations with these organizations, as well as with those of the Rotary Club of Toronto, the UTS Alumni Association, and the Granite Club, Warren will be fondly remembered by all who were given the gift of knowing him. He was a thoughtful, intelligent, witty, warm and gentle man who always had a twinkle in his eye. Warren remained active throughout his life as an enthusiastic swimmer, skier and member of the Granite Club tennis, curling and fitness sections. He also enjoyed summers with his family at the cottages on Lake Muskoka and in Algonquin Park. A private family service of remembrance will be held in Toronto in the coming weeks. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the palliative wing at Bridgepoint Healthcare for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the "Out of the Cold" program, care of the Fred Victor Mission at tcrc.ca or to Bridgepoint Healthcare at Bridgepointhealth.ca.
