To the Hogarth's, I would like to extend my deepest heartfelt condolences to all of you. I was absolutely shocked and devastated to learn this sad news.
As an old friend of Richard's at UCC, I spent much of my time at your home in Rosedale growing up. My only memories of Jack as a kid were pleasant ones. He enjoyed hanging out with his older brother, whatever Rich and I were up to. Whether it was jumping on the trampoline in the backyard or walking to Summerhill to grab snacks, Jack often tagged along with a smile on his face. The only words that I could use to describe Jack with are kind, polite and respectful.
Richard, John, Susan and Lauren; I am truly sorry for your loss of such a great soul and I cannot even begin to imagine the size of the void that this tragedy has left on your family. Although no words can bring you solace at this time, I hope that you can rejoice in the many joyful memories of Jack and the amazing impression that he left on this world. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. On behalf of myself and my parents, I wish all of you the best at this difficult time.

Dear John, Susan, Richard and Lauren:
There are no words to express my sympathy and thoughts at such a difficult time for you, your extended family and Jack's many friends. I pray that you find solace and comfort in the warm family memories you have of a beloved son and brother. That will fill the enormous void you feel at Jack's passing. You remain in my thoughts and prayers. I look forward to hearing your plans for a future tribute to Jack's all too short life. May he rest in the peace of Christ. Beati mundo corde.

Even though we will never understand why things happen as they do, we can feel reassured, because kind, compassionate men touch this world in ways that matter. The length of time is not the variable with which this is measured, just the openness of the heart and how it has touched others.

I cannot begin to describe how saddened I am to learn of Jack's passing. I met Jack in 2020 and spent considerable time with him over the past year and a half since moving to Toronto. Jack was the only other person that knew as much about military history as I did, and I will greatly miss our discussions on various subjects. Jack was a special person, and to learn of his tragic death will be difficult to recover from. I will always remember Jack and will forever keep him in my thoughts.
