It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Long, on September 4, 2024, at the age of 95. Jack's love of music began when he was 12 years old. He obtained a degree in Music from The University of Toronto. It was there that he met Carol, his loving wife of 65 years. Together they built a happy life filled with love, family and music. He was predeceased by Carol; and their son, Jonathan. Jack was well known in the Toronto music community, not only as a talented jazz trumpet player, but also as the founder of Long and McQuade Musical Instruments and Yorkville Sound. Throughout his career he made a positive impact on the lives of many. He mentored countless individuals, helping them to pursue their musical goals. His dedication to his work and his commitment to music and his community set him apart as a true leader in his field. Jack will be greatly missed by his five children, Steven (Helen), Catherine (Ken), Jeffrey (Octavia), Julie, Jennifer (Mark); his 15 grandchildren, Ryan, Gregory, Evan, Aaron (Elizabeth), Victoria, Christopher (Nicole), Michael (Yuri), Daryl (Meaghan) Adam, Jordan (Heather), Jackson, Emily, Nathalie, Benjamin, Matthew; his two step-grandchildren, Katherine and Michael; and his five great-grandchildren, Oliver, Fiona, Theodore, Violet and Jack. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, September 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Church on-the-Hill, 300 Lonsdale Road, Toronto.
