Jack RICHER Obituary

JACK RICHER It is with great sadness that the family of Jack Richer announces his passing on Monday, May 1, 2023, in Toronto. Cherished husband of the late Naomi Richer (née Sorkin). Loving father and father-in-law of Eric Richer, Rhonda Richer and Tim Lipa. Devoted grandfather of Harris Richer, Malerie Lipa (Matthew Fuller), and Russell Lipa. New adoring great-grandfather of Griffin. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Irving and the late Dora Richer, Helaine and Morty Schwam; and brother-in-law of Joan and the late Bob Litwin. Born and raised in Montreal, Jack lived there until a recent move to Toronto. He held a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and was a Chartered Accountant. Upon graduation, he joined his father-in-law and grew the accounting firm Sorkin and Richer to a highly regarded and respected practice. Seeing opportunities in other fields, Jack delved into the field of real-estate and over the years developed, constructed and managed numerous commercial properties in Canada and the US. Always a believer in giving back to his community, Jack was a past president of the YMHA, a board member of the Jewish General Hospital, as well as the Festival des Arts in Saint-Sauveur. He was a generous financial supporter of multiple charities. Jack and Naomi shared a passion for travel and together discovered the world.
