Jacqueline KOLBER Obituary
KOLBER, Jacqueline (nee Couture)
Unexpectedly and suddenly on Wednesday, August 1st, 2012 in Toronto, three weeks shy of her 74th birthday. Beloved wife of Samuel Kolber for 43 years. Phenomenal Mother to three children, Daniel and Jennifer, Andrea, and Tamara and Nicholas, and lovingly known as 'Gigi' to her four grandchildren, Lauren, Alexandra, Ilios and Maksim. Sister to Wendell and Leslie, and sister-in- law to the Hon. E. Leo Kolber. She was a friend to everyone, and will be missed by many. Jacquie was an athlete who filled her life with various activities - she was a co- founder of the Alberta Ballet Company, was the Line Captain with the Canadettes in the '60s, was active in running, tennis, downhill skiing, yoga, dragon boating and more through various times in her life. Gigi's life was full of charitable endeavours, donating years of her time with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the Mt. Sinai Hospital Women's Auxiliary, and the St. Michael's Hospital Breast Screening Clinic. As a multiple breast cancer survivor, this was the cause truest to her. A huge void will be felt in the lives of many who had the privilege of knowing her, and by the many causes which benefitted from her untiring efforts. At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (3 lights west of Dufferin), for service on Friday, August 3rd at 10:00 a.m. Interment Temple Sinai Section of Pardes Shalom Cemetery. The family is receiving friends afterwards at 27 Breen Crescent, as well as on August 5th, 6th, and 7th from 12 to 8. Jacquie would have liked donations to Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation, 416-480-4483.
