JAMES BEAMISH Obituary

JAMES GREGOR BEAMISH 1947 - 2023 With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of James "Jim" Beamish on November 27, 2023, at age 76. Proud father of Vanessa and David (Kaitlin); and loving grandad to Heidi and Felix, and granddog, Maisie. He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren; his wife of many years, Sandra; and his brother, Michael. Predeceased by his parents, Greg and Phyllis; and brother, Peter. A voracious reader and devoted library patron, Jim was a lifelong learner and wealth of knowledge, with a particular interest in history and family ancestry. He loved classic rock and skiing and was known for his quick wit, classic penmanship and signature moustache. Above all else, Jim loved his children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. A memorial will be held at a later date.

Jim: We had discussed a number of adventures we were going to share together when you stepped away. That's OK, we'll get to them later.

I am so saddened to hear about Jim's passing. I have fond and vivid memories of working closely with Jim at Canaccord, when I was just starting out and he was brimming with witty advice and sarcastic humour. He was so observant, curious and wise - he never made me feel as young as I was for the work that we did, and his respect was worth having. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Jim was a wonderful colleague, a classy gentleman, and kind soul. We were fortunate to work with Jim at Midland Walwyn where he created the brilliant "Blue Chip Thinking" brand and again at Canaccord Wealth Management where he was admired and respected for his role as VP of Marketing. The last time we saw Jim was in our Waterloo office where we celebrated his upcoming retirement and surprised him with a cake highlighting all the things he loved and would have more time to do. There is no doubt that Jim took the time to "Enjoy the Ride". We will miss him dearly. Sending our condolences to the family, friends and former colleagues.

I am shocked to hear of Jim's passing. What a wonderful man, person and human being. His eloquence, wry humour, and thirst for knowledge was always special. He was always a true gentleman. I will miss him dearly. Please let me know if there is a memorial. I would sincerely want to honour Jim B.

So sorry to hear about Jim´s death. Jim was one of my first bosses at Midland Doherty in 1987. Our paths crossed again and again as we moved to Oakville in 1989, close to Jim and Sandra. Our kids played soccer and went to school together. He had a great sense of humour and has left far too early. RIP Jim

My sincere condolences to the Beamish family.
Jim was the most unique individual I´ve had the privilege to know - what a quick wit, a great friend and fellow motorcyclist. Will always regret not taking a trip down to the Smoky Mountains with Jim. I will miss his sense of humour and outspokenness. So sad that he is gone.

I´m shocked to hear this, Jim was a long time friend and was an original. My favourite times with Jim were when we went to lunch, he was a meat and no condiment guy, liked the basics, nothing fancy.I will forever have the memory of him with me.
If there is a celebration of life at some point, please let me know.

Jim and I reconnected from our high school days in 2019. As "oldies" we soon found out we had a lot of things in common and we developed a fun and appreciative friendship. He enjoyed my cooking, biscotti, and gardening skills while I admired his extensive vocabulary, his wealth of knowledge about Toronto and history in general and current world issues.
Jim was so proud of his kids and grandkids and he always had photos and videos of Heidi, Felix and Maisie to share with me.
I was so saddened and shocked by his sudden death. We had recently shared a hike and lunch together and were making plans for our next meeting.
Jim was truly one of a kind man .... an old fashioned gentleman.... He was very kind, empathetic and a very special friend to many. I personally will always cherish the memories of our conversations and days spent together.
My deepest condolences to Vanessa, David, Kate, Sandra and Mike.
RIP JB.... Hugs

Jim was a truly great guy. He was a a student at West Acres Public, Allen A
Martin and Gordon Graydon. A friend to all of us who went through those years together. I remember his Dad worked for Ford Motors and he always had the neatest cars. Jim contacted me many years later and we had the occasional get together for coffee or a lunch. He was so well connected to all those people we went to school with and could always update you on how they were doing, He will be greatly missed!!!!

Jim was a true friend, and I will forever remember and miss our many wonderful and thought-provoking conversations over the past year. Jim had a knowledge, vocabulary and wit which were truly admirable, and which kept me always surprised, laughing and on my toes. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable. My sincere condolences to all of his family, both near and far, of whom he was so very proud.

A wonderful tribute to Jim-exactly as he would have wanted to be remembered and how his obituary should be expressed. Our deepest condolences to Mike, Vanessa, David, Sandra, and Jim's grandchildren. We have so many memories of Jim-his vigour, enthusiasm, zest for life, and quest to know. Truly a life well lived.
