(1945 – 2025) In loving memory of an exceptional brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend who passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025. In similar fashion to the life he lived, Jamie (to his family), Jim (to his friends), left this world quietly, unobtrusively, and devoid of drama. A quiet life, however, does not mean a life without impact. This is especially true of Jamie. Born in Guelph on December 15, 1945, he, with his parents, moved to Vineland Station in 1948. During this time, Jamie enjoyed five years as the firstborn child of Ollie and Eleanor. However, this era of serenity was to end abruptly with the arrival of his raucous baby sister, Barbara. Jamie immediately saw the need for intervention and took on the role of big brother (aka Guidance Counselor) with gusto, and his innate ability to shepherd his little sister foreshadowed a lifelong career in the field of education. After leaving Vineland, Jamie started his teaching career in Sarnia, but soon after settled in Barrie, where his world opened wider. There, he rose to the position of Principal of Special Education for the Simcoe County District School Board, until his retirement in 1999. In spite of holding a position of considerable responsibility, Jamie was never defined simply by his job. He was an avid Blue Jays fan - a love cultivated by his beloved Uncle Dick, who brought him to many baseball games - and an avid skier in his younger years. A prolific traveller, whether it was visiting his cousin, Eleanor, and her husband, Fred, at their numerous homes in Arizona, the Bahamas, and Coeur D'Alene; his many trips to Florida to visit his friends, Marvyn and Verla; or his yearly trips to the Netherlands for the Tulip Festival, where he was on a first-name basis with the staff at the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel. He was a crossword and Scrabble enthusiast, a devotion no doubt inherited from his grandmother, Margaret, and lastly, a huge Bob Dylan fan and a patron of many Mirvish theatrical productions in Toronto. Jamie will be remembered by his many friends for his selfless generosity. He will be remembered by his nieces and nephews for his yearly Christmas Amaryllis gifts, which sparked an annual competition of whose bulb begat the most blooms. He will be remembered by grandnieces and nephews every time they successfully peel a shrimp tail with ease. Finally, he will be remembered by his sister for his moral integrity and exceeding kindness. Predeceased by his mother and father, Oliver and Eleanor Bradt; Aunts Marjorie and Dorothy Bradt; Uncle Richard "Dick" and Aunt Jean Roberts; Uncle Samuel Woods, Aunt Margaret, and Uncle Harold Johnson. Jamie leaves behind to fend without him, his sister, Barbara Bologna (Dan); nieces, Kerrie and Susan (Martin); nephews, James (Faith) and David (Emer); his grandnieces, Emily, Erika, Natalie, Kyla, and Bridey; his grandnephews, Tristan and Kit; and his Aunt Evelyn Woods. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25th, at 12:30 p.m. at the Tallman Funeral Home (3277 King Street, Vineland). All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the
Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated. Online condolences at
