JAMES BRENZEL Obituary

(April 6, 1961 - Febrary 10, 2026) It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jamie Brenzel on February 10, 2026. He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Lisa Dinnick; his son, Max; and his daughters, Roz and Zoe. He is loved dearly by his parents, Larry (predeceased) and Sally; his siblings, Henry, Beth, Alison (Jeff Baker), Peter (Heather), and Sam (Paul Kolsby); his brothers-in-law, Peter and Christopher; and his nephews and nieces, Jordana (Eyal Edelstein), Derek, Jared, Matthew, Molly, Sydney, Viola, Brenzel, Charlie, Wilson, Chris, Charlie, Thatcher, and Meadow. Jamie was a devoted father and husband, seasoned entrepreneur, and beloved friend of many. He was a cherished member of the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, where he played with a quietly competitive spirit and was a much-in-demand doubles partner. His love of the game was as important as the friendships he forged there. His athletic gifts extended to skiing and golf, and in his younger years, ultimate frisbee and basketball. He had a refined eye and a deep appreciation for fine design (including his paisley shirts) and art. He loved to travel and had culinary specialties he took pride in cooking for his family, like his famous spaghetti. Above all, Jamie had unwavering devotion to his family; was a steady source of encouragement, a patient listener, and a constant champion for those he loved. He will be missed. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, February 17th, at 10:00 at Benjamin Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West. Interment to follow at Beth Tzedec Memorial Park. Reception following at The Quail, 1055 Yonge Street, 1:00-4:00. A Celebration of Life to be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Doug Philpott Inner-City Children's Tennis Fund: https://philpottchildrenstennis.org/

I knew Jamie at St George's and encountered him from time to time as he progressed through UCC, Western U & latterly on social media. A great loss to his family and friends and my condolences. He was a good man. We are poorer for his passing. But he has only gone up ahead, and we shall catch up with him, presently.

I knew Jamie as my boss at Wood Printing and Graphics in the 1990s. For some reason unknown to me, I decided to search for him on the internet, and I found that Jamie had passed away a month ago today. What a coincidence... I remember Jamie as a great boss. Although he a bit younger than me I had a lot of respect for him. I was a mere film stripper in the company but during Jamie's time at the helm of Wood Printing I managed to buy my townhouse where I live till today and put my children through schools. I think he respected me too as did his brother, Peter. I am so sorry about Jamie's passing. I hope it means something that a Ukrainian employee misses his Jewish boss as his Friend. And I mean it sincerely. So help me God.

My deepest condolences to all of the Brenzel`s and Jamies family. I always loved running into Jamie in the old days. Haven´t seen him for a long time. He was always such a cool, kind, outgoing guy. And always well dressed, like all the Brenzel boys!!

I was deeply saddened to hear about Jamie´s sudden passing. Jamie and I were great pals during grades 5-8 at St. Georges. College. I was at his Bar mitzvah, we skied together, and i spent quite a bit of time at his home in the Bridal Path when we were boys. While we haven't´ seen each other in person since childhood, we stayed in touch over social media over the years. My sincere condolences to Jamie´s family and friends during this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to the Brenzel and Dinnick families. I am devastated by the news of Jamie´s sudden passing. We were classmates and roommates in boarding school at UCC. We reconnected in recent years. Whenever we would get together for a walk, or a coffee, or a meal, invariably our conversations would drift to talking about our respective wife and children. Whenever he talked about Lisa, Max, Roz and Zoe, he would beam with pride. He loved you dearly, and always spoke fondly about you. Jamie, my friend, you will be greatly missed.

As sad as it feels: the heart has its reasons that reason does not know.
You are all loved. Sometimes the memories of fun and laughter give us the most strength.
In my thoughts.

I first met Jamie at St George's College and we quickly became very close friends. We shared a passion for skiing and athletics in general. I truly admired Jamie's athletic prowess and his natural ability to connect with people. Both our fathers were in the Investment Business so we had that in common as well. I truly cherish our childhood time together and I will miss him. Jamie was a good friend, a true pal and I am heartbroken by his premature passing.

Dear Brenzel Family,

I am very sorry for your loss, my prayers and condolences are with you. When I heard the news my heart stopped for a sec and did not want to believe it. I enjoyed my conversation with Jamie about life, golf and the jokes we made together in my treatment room. He always remembered what was going on in my life and was sure to ask how I was doing and wanted the best for me. It is always difficult to know what to say in times like this. However, I wanted to reach out and share my thoughts. Just know that Jamie is missed very much and he is my thoughts and heart always. Much peace and love.

I had the good fortune of meeting Jamie playing early days ultimate frisbee in Toronto with some of our mutual friends, then later on a boys ski week, and a few business chats after. He was a lovely fellow.

A true gentleman who always stopped to say hello and affectionately catch up on all things family - and tennis! With laughs of early York School days with little crazy kids! Jamie left us all with a little more kindness in our hearts, reminders to take time to listen and share, and that will be missed but carried forward. Sending all our love - The Coffey Family

Dear Lisa, the Brenzel family and close friends - I am so sorry for your profound loss.

Many fond memories of Jamie from playing ultimate back in the day and our go to printer when he and Peter ran Wood Printing together. The house parties before all of us had kids and then later bumping into one another in midtown and more recently seeing each other in the dog park in the past months - it was always great to see Jamie whenever we ran into one another. Always a practical joker, always a smile and something of value to say to anyone at anytime on a myriad of topics. The last time I saw him I was riding my bike up Yonge Street and he chirped me from his car as if he was an anti-bike driver and he totally had me and I chirped back... with a laugh he said "Got ya it's me - Jamie." We both laughed and that's how I'll remember Jamie - laughing at his own joke and giving me a smile.

He will be missed.

Remembering Jamie, I have fond memories of adventures. From Jamie and Peter's early entrepreneurial experience as Printers at Wood printing to adventures on Georgian Bay out to the Western Islands. Jamie always had a special twinkle in his eye and was up for an adventure. He was someone you always wanted by your side on the journey of life. My thoughts are with Lisa and the kids today as he heads off on the next adventure. I hope our paths cross again.

Dearest Lisa, Max, Roz, Zoe, and extended family,

We were deeply saddened to learn of Jeremy´s recent and sudden passing. There are no words that can soften such a loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult juncture. Only time, gently and gradually, can help ease the sharpness of the pain and void left behind.

Our families grew up together at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club when we were all just tots. Through the years, we shared many chapters of life from Matey´s annual solstice and boat parties, to competitive tennis in house leagues, to watching our children attend after-school squash clinics and play Mooredale soccer in early formative years under Coaches Christophe and Duane.

Across five decades, our families shared, grew, experienced, created, and collected countless memories. Time truly does fly.

We will remember Jeremy´s warmth, his steady good nature, and the quiet lessons he imparted simply by the way he lived.
Treasure Jeremy´s gifts. Though he may now guide from above, the love he gave remains ever-present. Life is short but love is long.

May you find strength and solace in one another, and in the embrace of friends and extended family.

With heartfelt sympathy,

Frankie, Christophe, Sébastien, and Julien Pierre Chanel
&
Sylvia, Carol, and Christine Vilim

Our deepest condolences to Lisa and Family for their loss from Moira, Alfredo & Family. A beloved friend and Captain to his teammates at the Lawn, we share this note: Dear Lawn Team Members,
Many of you may have heard the very sad news that Jamie Brenzel has passed away.
Always a fixture and a bright light around the Club, we all knew Jamie as a gentlemen and a model Lawn Member on and off the Court. He never spared a smile or a moment to chat you up.
Jamie served as my Co-Captain for 4 years and never missed a moment when called upon to better the Toronto Lawn Team and our tennis experience.
To a man, he earned enormous respect. As competitive players, he went on to successfully lead the Team as the sole Captain for several more years and deep runs in the playoffs. He was capable, charming in his unique way, and if you didn't know, a great source of strength and stability for his family. All the more shocking that he has left us far far too early.
He will be dearly missed.
We all learn lessons in life but none more deep than missing an opportunity. We have a tradition at the Lawn of table fellowship to thank our Captains at the end of their tenure and to welcome their Successor.
I socialized this with Jamie this past Fall and he was looking forward to getting together with all of you. Obviously, and with a heavy heart, I did not act on the intent in time but now we owe it to him, at the very least, to gather once more and set out a glass for him at the table and share our gratitude for a life well lived and fondly remember that smile.
