James BURRY Obituary
James Paul Burry
James Paul Burry, age 75, of
Laguna Woods and formerly of
Toronto passed away on July 7,
2014 in the loving arms of his
wife. He was an avid golfer, and
was known as the 'Birddog' to
family and friends. He loved his
family In-Law/Outlaw
Tournament and above all his
family.
Paul had a huge heart. He would
take the shirt off his back and
often gave to others even when
he had very little. Paul was
engaging and entertaining and
would regale others with stories
about his adventures in sales at
Proctor & Gamble or when he
was travelling the world for
Pepsi Cola. He lived in many
cities (New York, Hilversum,
Manila, Tokyo, Atlanta, Laguna
Woods (California) but always
came back to Toronto. Paul
always encouraged his children
and others to strive to reach
their potential. If you needed a
shoulder to lean on, he provided
it; if you needed advice or
needed a friend, he was there
He always made sure you knew
you were loved.
This past winter, he left the
warmth of California to brave the
worst storm in Canadian history
to spend Christmas with family
and watch his grandson play
hockey at his Alma Mater (St
Michael's) and in his childhood
home of Leaside. He met his true
love and best friend, Wendy
(McQuillan) Burry, later in life
and cherished every moment
with her. He leaves behind
Wendy, his children, Mark,
Courtney (Tim Morey) and
Lindsay (John Lorimer) his
grandchildren, Owen, Drew,
Finlay, Sydney and Joshua as
well as his siblings, Belinda
Higgins Morin (Donald
(deceased)), Heather O'Connor
(Dennis), Jill Moore (Rick), Robert
Burry (Karen), Bruce Burry
(Peggy).
A memorial will be held in
Laguna Woods and then a
further service for friends and
family in Toronto will follow on
August 9, 2014.
