Jim, in his 66th year, died peacefully at his cottage on Tuesday, August 17, 1999 in the company of his wife and best friend Janet (Burgess). Beloved father of Stephen, Jennifer and Andrea. Loving father-in-law of Janet Maclaren and Stuart Lombard. Cherished Papa Jim to James, Andrew and Alexandra Dent and to Phoebe Lombard. Jim will also be missed by his faithful companion Hudson. Jim attended Oakwood Collegiate and the University of Western Ontario after which he had a long career in the oil industry. His happiest times were spent with his family and friends at the cottage on Leonard Lake in Muskoka and on Hilton Head Island where he spent winters. We are deeply grateful to the many people who supported Jim throughout his illness and particularly to those who made it possible for him to spend his final months at home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Oakwood Collegiate Scholarship Fund or to Community Care Access Centre-Home Care Services in Bracebridge. We will honour and celebrate Jim's life at a memorial service at Port Carling United Church on Friday, August 20 at 12 p.m. followed by a gathering of friends at the cottage.
