DOWLER, James McLean
Of Winnipeg, died on July 25, 1998, aged 80. He is survived by his wife Sally, his children: Judith of Ottawa, James and his wife Judy of Vancouver, Susan and her husband Jim Burke of Alexandria, Virginia, his grandchildren: Patrick, Thomas and Morgan Dowler, and Jonathan and Kimberly Burke, and his sisters Margaret Law of Calgary and Betty Redmond of Winnipeg. Educated in Winnipeg schools and Queen's University, he joined the Canadian Indemnity Insurance Company in 1939 and retired in 1979 as Vice-President. He served from 1940 to 1945 in the Royal Canadian Navy, and at discharge held the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Jim directed his considerable energy and enthusiasm into making a difference in his community through his activities on countless community boards and institutions. Jim Dowler was a man who loved well and was well-loved. Known for his sense of humour, his passion for life and his compassion, he had many friends in all generations. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 1998 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's River Heights United Church, at Kingsway and Oak. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to: the Rotary Memorial Fund of Winnipeg, 350 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg, R3C 3J2 or the charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL INC .
