James HUGHES Obituary

HUGHES, James Grant
It is with great sadness the family announces the death of Jim Hughes at Toronto General Hospital on Wednesday, November 3, 2004. He was the loving husband of Jayne Hughes and loving father of Tim (Stephanie) and Chrystie (Jamie). His family, business associates and many, many friends will remember Jim with great fondness. Born August 31, 1934 in Toronto Jim had successful collegiate and pro-football careers, becoming a member of the Queen's University Hall of Fame and playing for the Hamilton Tiger Cats (Grey Cup Champions) and Ottawa Rough Riders. Jim had significant entrepreneurial business success as owner of Imperial Auto Collision and co/owner of the Black Bull Hotel and Tavern. Jim devoted a great deal of his time to many charitable ventures and was the Chairman of the Ted Reeve Scholarship Fund at Queen's University and, for close to twenty years, a Governor of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame. The family appreciates the kind attention of all those who cared for Jim at the Toronto General Hospital. A private family remembrance is being held. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation in Jim's memory.
