James KELLY Obituary

JAMES BERNARD KELLY 'Jim' July 27, 1932 - January 15, 2020 It is with deep sadness that the family of James Bernard Kelly announce his peaceful passing, surrounded by family, on January 15, 2020. He leaves behind his wife and best friend Noella (Longchamp), as well as his children: Paul (Pitty), Kathy (Jim), Julie (Emiddio), Mike (Carla), Phil and Jim (Shelley). He will be greatly missed by his 13 grandchildren: Christine, Kaitlin, Nicole, Julie, Sarah, Andrea, Patrick, Jack, Sonya, Patrick, Daniel, Cael and Cian; as well as his four great-grandchildren: Brayden, Evan, Riley and Nicholas. Jim also leaves behind many nieces and nephews on both the Kelly and Longchamp sides. Jim emigrated from Dublin, Ireland in 1952 landing in Quebec City. He made his way to Montreal where he met his bride- to- be Noella and began a 62 year love story. Jim touched many lives throughout his lifetime. His kind, gentle, thoughtful, and caring nature endeared him to people; both in business, where he led and mentored countless colleagues; and to friends and neighbours, who he met and made lifelong bonds with. Jim's greatest joy in life however, was spending time with his family. We are all so grateful to have had so many wonderful years with our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Erin Meadows Retirement Centre who provided exceptional care and kindness to Jim in the last 8 months. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Glen Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville (at Dundas St.) on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 1 p.m. with visitation two hours prior from 11 - 1 p.m. Donations in Jim's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Dear Noella,
Although many years have passed since our last 'face to face', the Kelly clan from Clementine Square has not been forgotten.
Please accept my sincere condolences and hopefully my prayers for all of you will help to carry on without Jim.
Blessings!

Dear Noella and family. Please accept our heart felt condolences on the passing of your loving husband and father, James B. Kelly. James was affectionately known to us as Uncle Jimmy, and who was the patriarch of a very extended family that included his mother Kathleen, his brother Tommy as well as his sisters Imelda and Mona. Although the youngest sibling, it was he Uncle Jimmy who lived the longest, and what a full and memorable life it was. A multitude of nieces and nephews were positively supported, influenced and unconditionally loved by our Uncle Jimmy. As a role model with his guidance, the vast majority of these nieces and nephews have in their own way, withstanding the many challenges that life brings, become responsible parents and or citizens within their respective communities. Our collective memories of our Uncle are primarily focused during the time when we were young children and when Jim was starting life as a young man in his adopted country, Canada. His love and commitment to Noella and their family were his ultimate priorities, but he somehow managed to support his extended family in times of crisis that included illness, abandonment, or premature passing of brothers, sisters, brother-in-law in-law or nephews and nieces. When orphaned, Jim and Noella unselfishly and graciously welcomed Aileen and Gail into their home while supporting Joan and Leslie as they completed their university studies. This is but one example of him doing the best he could to support those who he cherished and loved. Everyone has their unique story. Uncle Jimmy was a man of superior intellect, a natural leader and motivator. His most important and significant talent was his ability to attentively listen, to those that sought his counsel. Without exception, we all agree that Uncle Jimmy is the greatest man we have ever known. Our gift to Uncle Jimmy and his immediate family is to tell our stories of joy and to pass his goodness forward.
With love and affection: Aileen, Annie, Carol, Gail, Jacqueline, Joan, Leslie, Lorraine, Maureen, and Susan.
