James MacLEAN Obituary



MacLEAN, James Herbert Lt. Col. (Ret'd.), M.Sc., P.Eng.
January 17, 2007 at Mississauga in his 89th year. Dear husband of Iris Mary, father of Mary Virginia (Roger Nainby) of Oakville and Lachlan Rory (Barbara) of Ottawa. Grandfather of Alison and Meaghan. Predeceased by his son Duart Alexander, his brother Donald and sisters Isobel and Betty.
Lt. Col. MacLean was born in Toronto in 1918. He served as an engineer with the Canadian Forces in the second world war and received the following decorations and medal-citations: 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, War Medal 1939-45, Canadian Forces' Decoration and Clasp.
He returned to Canada after the war and attended the University of Toronto. He obtained his Masters of Applied Science and then returned to the Canadian Forces where he served in R.C.E.M.E. until his retirement in 1970.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Lt. Col. MacLean's life will be held in Oakville in February. For those who wish, you may make a donation to the charity of your choice in remembrance of Lt. Col. MacLean.
