PHELAN, James Joseph Patrick (Jim) (1924-2002)
Peacefully on October 30th, surrounded by his family. Jim, beloved husband of Geraldine. Loving father of Mary-Ellen Lomax, Frank (Leanne), Teresa Larocque (Joe), Margaret Powers, Patricia Scrivener (Charley), Rita Sandford (Steve), Monica Corson (Glen), Timothy and the late Thomas James. Jim also leaves 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Son of the late William Joseph Phelan and Ellen Theresa McInerney. Dear brother of Bill (Patricia) and Jack (Ruth). Following World War II Service in the Merchant Navy, Jim worked with Lever Brothers of Canada for 45 years. Jim was Secretary-Treasurer of the International Chemical Workers Union and Canadian Director of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Faithful 'Santa Clause' every Christmas to War Veterans at Sunnybrook Hospital, the Christian Brothers and Sisters of the Precious Blood, as well as numerous other community organizations. Resting at the PAUL O'CONNOR FUNERAL HOME, 1939 Lawrence Avenue East (between Warden and Pharmacy) from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Basilica (83 Power St. Queen St., east of Parliament.) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
