James POPIEL Obituary

After 91 wonderful years, Jimmie, as he was affectionately known to his children, passed away peacefully. Predeceased by the love of his life, Mary Mae, Jimmie is lovingly remembered by his children, Stephen and wife, Michele, and Lianne and husband, Ian; grandchildren, Brittany and husband, Andrew, Claire, Liam and wife, Kati, and Nicholas; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Raya, Gabriel and Sadie. His career took him from the oil patches of Oklahoma and the Tar Sands to the high-tech world of software engineering. Always the P. Eng., he used his education not only for work, but also to make Heathkit home electronics like televisions, radios and even a two-keyboard organ. In addition, he crafted some of the best homemade wine imaginable, and designed and built replica sailboats from the 17th and 18th centuries, becoming a sailmaker in the process. But first and foremost, Jimmie was a family man and he will be remembered at family gatherings by his sisters, Marisha and Pat; his new found love, Cynthia; and everyone at Northridge Community Church. James' Celebration of Life will be held at Northridge Community Church (15338 Leslie Street, Aurora, ON) on Thursday, July 25th, at 5 p.m., followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. To share messages of condolence, please visit www.taylorfh.ca.
