James POULOS Obituary

JAMES POULOS James Poulos (Jim), 90, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2022 with his children close by. Born in Toronto to John Poulos and Naomi Bray, who died from complications arising from Jim's birth, he grew up in the Parkdale area and attended Fern Avenue Public and Parkdale High School. As a teen, he loved spending his time playing hockey and DJ'ing dances around Toronto. Later, his passion for business was sparked and he spent a lifetime starting and working in several businesses, as well as being a very active volunteer, most notably in the Kinsmen. In 1970, he was named Etobicoke's 'most outstanding young man' for this selfless work. His final position was Executive Vice President of Junior Achievement of Canada. In his mid 20's, Jim met Grace Ruth Lindsay and they fell in love and ultimately enjoyed a 60 year marriage, producing three children, Debbie, Brad and Glenn. Jim lost both his mother and his sister at a young age so family meant more to him than anything. He was endlessly proud of them, always supporting them as they developed their tremendous range of endeavours. He further showed his devotion and love by being a dedicated and loving caregiver to Grace during the seven years of her illness, prior to passing in 2014. In addition to Debbie, Brad (and Denise), and Glenn (and Alissa), Jim is survived by his direct and blended grandchildren Stephen, Chelsea, Lori-anne, Mathew, Leslie, Sam, Victoria, Christian, and Owen as well as six great-grandchildren Nolan, Zoey, Calvin, Quinn, Dominic (Dom) and Theodore (Teddy). A celebration of life will be held at a future date hosted by his family who will be present to welcome friends and loved ones. Please send memorial donations to Conway Opportunity Homes, 71 Sanford Ave N., Hamilton, ON L8L 8G6, Canada.

Although Jim and Grace were friends of my parents, they always had a special place in my heart. Jim will be remembered with fondness as a kind and caring gentleman with an incredible sense of humour. My sincere condolences to Debbie, Brad and Glenn, and the extended families.

Please accept my condolences for the loss of Jim. He is remembered exactly as his obit reads. A great guy and as evidenced by all of his kids, an even better mentor.

I will always remember the good times and important life lessons Jim has taught me. You were a great mentor to me. No one was better at telling jokes at family and Dirty Dozen gatherings and making everyone feel welcome. I hope you enjoy having a gin and tonic with the love of your life Grace up in heaven. Love and miss you both very much!

As a friend of Brad and Glen, I´ve known Mr. Poulos since my teens when I had long hair, ripped jeans and otherwise looked like I just came in from the back alley yet he always treated me with kindness and respect. Always cheerful and easy to talk to he will be greatly missed
