JAMES MEREDITH SCOTT

JAMES SCOTT Obituary

James Meredith Scott, in his 92nd year, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on January 12, 2026. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Helen Scott; his beloved wife, Patricia; his son, Glenn; and his brother, Rex (Ruby Scott). Jim is lovingly remembered by his children, Cathy (Eric Clifton), Richard (Janice Scott), and Jackie. He was a cherished grandfather -affectionately known as Daddy Bappy to Kelsey and MJ, and Daddy Happy to Aidan and Owen. He will also be deeply missed by his sister, Sally Rourke (née Scott). Jim proudly served in the military from May 1951 to September 1954, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. Following his service, he graduated from the University of Maine in 1958 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After completing his studies, Jim joined the family business, John Breakey Ltd., and later continued his career with Cascade, where he worked until his retirement in 1995. Jim's long life was marked by devotion to his family, quiet strength, and a steady presence that brought comfort to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and enduring family bonds, and will be forever held in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Granite Club, 2350 Bayview Ave., Toronto, on Saturday, March 14th, from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Nature Conservancy of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.

On behalf of everyone at the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), we extend our deepest sympathies during this difficult time. We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jim Scott, a remarkable individual whose love and dedication to our natural world have left an indelible mark.

Jim has been instrumental, along with his brother Rex Malcolm Scott, in the protection of Lake Portage, a land formerly held by John Breakey Inc in Beauce, Qc. That significant land gift to NCC has contributed to the conservation of vital habitats for countless species and ensured that sanctuary remains a haven for future generations.

Sorry for the lost.
I'm a railway historian and he talked to me that he keep a souvenir of the railway at Breakeyville in his summer residence in Beauce. It is possible to know more. We have a railway museum in Lévis.

Il avait demandé à me rencontrer immédiatement.

How sad I was to hear of the passing of James Scott . I had the privilege of meeting the Scott family at Lac Portage during the years when my father Elie Duchesneau worked at John Breakey Ltd. In fact it was just a few months ago when my mother Lise Duchesneau were reminiscing of those wonderful times and wondered how Jim was fairing . All my condoléances
