JANET EILEEN ARCHER With great sadness we announce that Janet Eileen Archer passed away suddenly, on January 9, 2023, in Toronto. Born in Toronto, January 18, 1960. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Gwendolyn (Bamford) Archer; and is survived by her loving cousins. Being born in 1960 with a severe heart condition, Janet was considered what was known then as a 'blue baby' and was fortunate to have had live-saving cardiac surgery performed by Dr. William Mustard at the Hospital for Sick Children at the age of 3. Janet faced many health challenges over her life. She faced all obstacles with a positive attitude, confident that each challenge could be overcome. She was a loving person, always was interested in people and deeply caring about her friends. At a young age, she often enjoyed the company of adults during the many dinner parties her parents hosted during her father's long political career. Janet spent many happy summers at her family's cottage at Lac de L'Achigan in the Laurentions, north of Montreal. Janet grew up in the Deer Park neighbourhood and attended The Toronto French School, The Bishop Strachan School and Albert College. She graduated from the Canadian Mothercraft Society where, given her love of children, she studied early childhood education. Janet followed her interest in child development both caring for children at various daycares and as a nanny. Janet was also interested in both music and cooking, as well as supporting causes that were meaningful to her. Despite her own physical limitations as she grew older, Janet never lost her passion for helping those less fortunate and for social causes that mattered to her. (e.g. Indigenous Rights, 2SLGBTQIA+ Community and other social programs). She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglington Ave. West (2 stoplights west of Yonge St.), Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to
Charity of Your Choice.
