Janice KREUTZWEISER Obituary
KREUTZWEISER, Janice Anne (nee Rankin)
January 7, 1965-October 21, 2000. Passed away peacefully in Toronto surrounded in the love and affection of her husband and family after a lengthy, determined and exhausting journey with breast cancer at the age of 35. She leaves behind her affectionate parrot Taylor, her husband and best friend Bill, her parents Dorothy (Buckby) and Lloyd Rankin, her sister Julie (Randy) Atchison, her brother Brian Rankin (Kathy Weir), her mother-inlaw June Kreutzweiser (the late Allan Kreutzweiser) and brothers-in-law John (Kris) Kreutzweiser, and Steven Kreutzweiser. She loved and was proud of her niece Jennifer, and nephews Mark, Christopher, Kevin, Baden, Nicholas and Evan. She is remembered by many special friends who were extremely supportive throughout her life and during her illness. Janice was very talented and a creative costumer who excelled and enjoyed bringing to life tailored and beaded costumes for stage and film productions. She was born and raised in Wiarton, Ontario. She studied textiles and the University of Guelph and Costume Studies at the University of Dalhousie in Halifax. From the early 1990's and until very recently she worked on a number of musical and stage productions in Toronto including Crazy For You, Miss Saigon, Show Boat, Mama Mia and Lion King. She and her husband first met in the seventh grade and eventually began dating once they attended University. Over the course of seven years, they followed each other as they pursued their academic interests including two exciting years in Halifax at Dalhousie University. For the past six years she lived with her husband in the Beaches (Toronto) where their garden brought great joy. Janice passionately loved animals but birds were special to her. Her own Love Birds and Parrot were a source of great company and inspiration (not to mention the early, noisy morning greetings.) Janice neither beat cancer nor did she become a victim of it. She learned to live deeper and truer through it and even in her most difficult days, she was able to find something positive in her situation and in others. Together we were able to make a strong connection with her soul and believe that her soul would live on. Your love and support made her journey more comfortable and meaningful. Memorial contributions to Breast Cancer Research would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy. Friends are invited to join Janice's family in a celebration of her life at a Memorial Service to be held in Toronto on the afternoon of Monday, November 6, 2000.
